Create MBOX Files for the Folders in Entourage for Mac

In Entourage the default database file format is not an MBOX so we need to create a MBOX file for the Entourage. You can do this by simply following the steps below

  1. Open Entourage on your Mac machine and resize it so that you can see the desktop.
  2. Next, select the folder that you want to archive. If you are unable to see the folders then simply go to View and click on Folder List.
  3. Drag and drop the selected folder on the desktop. A file will be created with the name similar to the source folder.

Each of these files created above is a MBOX file. You need to repeat the above steps for every folder that you want to save as MBOX file. Please note that these MBOX files do not keep the folder structure.

Locating Entourage Data File:

Entourage mail client is available in different versions of Mac and each version may store the entourage data in different path. Since; it uses Microsoft User Data folder to store all the email related files it can be easily found using their location in the following ways,

Entourage version 2001:

<Name of the Hard Disk>: Documents folder/Microsoft User Data: office 2001 Identities: Main Identity

Entourage version 2004:

<Name of the Hard Disk>/User/Name of the User/Documents folder/Microsoft office 2004 Identities/ Main Identity

Entourage version 2008:

<Name of the Hard Disk>/User/Name of the User/Documents folder/Microsoft office 2004 Identities/ User’s Main Identity

Entourage version X:

<Name of the Hard Disk>/User/Name of the User/Documents folder/Microsoft office X Identities/ User’s Main Identity

These paths contain all the data associated with entourage like identities, emails, tasks, calendars, caches etc. Entourage created a different folder for each identity thus; if you have multiple identities then a separate folder will be created for each identity.
